An Austrian water Engineer Mr. Mirror accompanied by an Mgbowo son and the National Coordinator Christian Democratic Movement (CDM), visited the Mgbowo earth Dam project on 5th of March 2024.
This was contained in a report signed by the Ag Secretary Mgbowo Dam committee, Amb. Jeff Ndubueze.
In his briefing , the visit commenced with a courtesy call on Ohabuenyi 2, Igwe John Ibe's palace, where the visitors were warmly received by members of the Mgbowo Dam committee, MJCC, Ag PG Ekpulato,President-General Ezioha Mgbowo Development Union, and other dignitaries.
Receiving the visitors, the Igwe Ohabuenyi, HRH Igwe Greg Ituma, Onyima II of Mgbowo, in accordance with Mgbowo cultural norms of welcoming visitors offered Kolanut and Akuru palm wine were offered prayers over the Kolanut.
Mr. Mirror who was impressed with the facility's infrastructure and the sustainable water source, expressed optimism that the Dam could be revived and utilized for the benefit of the community.
During discussions, the Dam committee representative requested Mr. Mirror to consider the hydroelectricity component of the Dam project, highlighting the presence of a turbine.
Mr. Mirror acknowledged the request but noted that many components had become obsolete and may need replacement, requested project drawings to determine necessary steps to achieve the set objectives.
Subsequently, the team visited the nearby Ekpulato Health Center, which, to everyone's dismay, was in a state of disrepair and dysfunctional.
In response to appeals by the EMDU president, Mr. Mirror pledged assistance in providing water supply and other resources to revitalize the facility.
"The tour concluded with a review of observations, comments, and additional information at Igwe's palace.
"The Dam committee Chairman, follow proceedings closely by telephone, promised to facilitate the provision of project drawings as requested.
"With that, the meeting concluded on a positive note.
"Many thanks to everyone who contributed to making today's events possible.
"Indeed there is light at the end of what has been a very long and dark tunnel for ndi Mgbowo.," Amb. Ndubueze Stated.
